Recap: Kokomo HomeSchool Eagles vs. Heartland Christian Saints
The Kokomo HomeSchool Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Heartland Christian with a sharp 63-37 victory on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for Kokomo HomeSchool as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Kokomo HomeSchool's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dane Beery led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Beery has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maximus Hogsett, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 4 assists.
Defeat or not, Heartland Christian got some senior leadership from Landon Clemens who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and Clay Nivens who scored ten points along with five rebounds. The contest was Clemens' tenth in a row with at least ten points.
Kokomo HomeSchool pushed their record up to 10-9 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.4 points. As for Heartland Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kokomo HomeSchool will square off against Fort Wayne GUARD HomeSchool at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Heartland Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
