Basketball Game Preview: Riverview Sarasota Rams vs. Lehigh Lightning

The Riverview Sarasota Rams will challenge the Lehigh Lightning on Wednesday. One thing working in Riverview Sarasota's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests.

Last Friday, Riverview Sarasota was able to grind out a solid win over Sarasota Christian, taking the game 70-60. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Blazers are ranked 470th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverview Sarasota's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cole Coggin, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 24 points in addition to six assists and three steals, and Josh Harris, who went 10 of 20 en route to 28 points. The dominant performance gave Coggin a new career-high in points. Ryan Farris was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Lehigh didn't have too much trouble with Fort Myers on Friday as they won 72-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lightning.

Lehigh's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.1 points per game. As for Riverview Sarasota, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Riverview Sarasota couldn't quite finish off Lehigh in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 49-47. Can Riverview Sarasota avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
