Softball Recap: Kohala Starts Season with Win Against Ka'u

Kohala took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 29-9 margin over the Ka'u Trojans. The win continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won seven in a row.

Kalia Marquez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marquez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kailani Valenzuela-Conte, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Faith Alejandro-Cazimero was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Kohala will face off against Honoka'a at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ka'u does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
