Basketball Recap: Bourbon War Hawks vs. Belle Tigers
Bourbon extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 26 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-13. They were outmatched by the Belle Tigers and fell 112-22. While losing is never fun, the War Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 531st, while the Tigers are ranked 119th).
As for Belle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Belle had a senior duo take command as Hank Stratman shot 72% from the field to rack up 28 points along with eight boards and three steals and Garrett Gehlert dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists. Gehlert has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Hank Willis was another key player, going 7-for-9 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
