White Oak was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Northside - Jacksonville on Monday. White Oak blew past Northside - Jacksonville 30-4. That looming 30-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.
Malaysia Curtis was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Micaela Bowser, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
White Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .783. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, West Carteret put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Swansboro. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Patriots have posted against the Pirates since April 13, 2021.
Caitlin Dumarce spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Saylor Gray and Ella Grace Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Gray fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Rodriguez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three runs gave Gray a new career-high. Kaelyn Margoupis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
West Carteret pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for White Oak, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
White Oak suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to West Carteret when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can White Oak avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
