Soccer Game Preview: Mauldin vs. J.L. Mann

The Mauldin Mavericks will face off against the J.L. Mann Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

J.L. Mann will be up against a hot Mauldin squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Mavericks' defense stepped up to hand James F. Byrnes a 4-0 shutout on Friday. Considering Mauldin have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but J.L. Mann had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Blue Eagles.

J.L. Mann hit Clover with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Laney Keith (2), Mary Grayson Harder, and Caroline Ray.

J.L. Mann's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight matchups. As for Mauldin, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
