Recap: Bel Air Highlanders vs. Burges Mustangs

The Bel Air Highlanders fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Burges Mustangs on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Bel Air was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Burges apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

Bel Air's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alec Carrillo, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, and Marcos Garcia who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Travis Monroy was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Bel Air bumped their record down to 6-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Burges, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.

Bel Air will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canutillo at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Canutillo will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Burges, they will head out on the road to face off against Hanks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Israel Gonzalez and Anthony Rubio.
