Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Carver A&T

Carver A&T had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Milford Mill Academy Millers 26-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-4 on April 3rd.

Mason Wehrheim was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Wehrheim was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Carver A&T's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Carver A&T got a massive performance out of Trevor Schnirel, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Schnirel is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Battaglia, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Carver A&T always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Carver A&T back to even at 6-6. As for Milford Mill Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver A&T will venture away from home to square off against Owings Mills at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Milford Mill Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Patapsco at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
