Basketball Game Preview: Mabton Vikings vs. Tonasket Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the Mabton Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Tonasket Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mabton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Tonasket likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Mabton strolled past Sunnyside Christian with points to spare, taking the game 76-58.

Meanwhile, Tonasket wrapped up 2024 with a 70-51 win over Overlake.

Tonasket's win came from a few key players Mabton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kristian Jones, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. What's more, he also racked up four blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Tanner Tompkins was another key player, going 11 for 18 on his way to 29 points.

Mabton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Tonasket, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
