Basketball Game Preview: Utopia Buffaloes vs. Leakey Eagles

Utopia is 1-9 against Leakey since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Buffaloes will face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Utopia came up short against Rocksprings and fell 39-29.

Meanwhile, Leakey hadn't done well against D'Hanis recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cowboys 39-37. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Cowboys on their court since November 30, 2023.

Leakey pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points over those games. As for Utopia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Utopia suffered a grim 60-38 defeat to Leakey when the teams last played back in December of 2025. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
