Baseball Recap: Weed Takes a Loss

Weed fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Hoopa Valley on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Conner Hosino was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Hosino was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Hosino wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Keen, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Weed's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Hoopa Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Coming up, Weed will host Tulelake at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hoopa Valley, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-0 loss against St. Bernard's on the 15th.
