Volleyball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Liberty Lions

Pittsburg is 0-9 against Liberty since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Pirates will host the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pittsburg took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Antioch. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Pittsburg walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-20, 25-21.

Pittsburg had a senior duo take command as Angel Garcia had 19 assists and Angel Lozano De La Cruz had 17 assists and five digs. Jermanie Earnest also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Meanwhile, Liberty sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Granada on Wednesday.

Liberty wouldn't go down easily and took Granada into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 19-25, 15-10.

Pittsburg pushed their record up to 10-15 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
