Softball Game Preview: Bay Springs Bulldogs vs. Richton Rebels

For the second straight game, Bay Springs will face off against Richton. The Bulldogs will host the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Bay Springs came up short against Richton and fell 8-4. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For Richton's part, Brayleigh Parker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. Parker has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Richton got a big performance out of Eliza Kelly, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was Kelly's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cartier Daughdill, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Richton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Richton pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Bay Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
