Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Organ Mountain

Organ Mountain entered their tilt with Gadsden on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Knights have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Leah Melero, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmine Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Melero wasn't the only one making solid contact: Organ Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Organ Mountain's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Gadsden, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Organ Mountain didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-3 loss against Alamogordo on the 7th. As for Gadsden, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against Las Cruces on the 7th.
