Basketball Recap: Linn Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Linn has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fatima Comets. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Comets earlier this season, when they won 64-45.

Despite the defeat, Linn saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carley Brandt dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Those 14 points gave Brandt a new career-high. Hannah Hackmann was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Even though they lost, Linn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Linn's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Fatima, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Linn and Fatima should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Linn will square off against Russellville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 174 places (53 vs. 227). Linn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Fatima (ranked 91st) will meet Steelville (ranked 426th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
