Basketball Game Preview: Maud Cardinals vs. Bowie Pirates

The Maud Cardinals will head out to challenge the Bowie Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Maud was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-31 to Harts Bluff. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Maud saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mallorie Bishop posted 21 points. Bishop's afternoon made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Meanwhile, Bowie entered their tilt with Rivercrest on Friday with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. They really took it to the Rebels for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-17 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-4.

Bowie pushed their record up to 21-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points per game. As for Maud, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Maud was taken down by Bowie 75-34 in their previous matchup on January 3rd. Can Maud avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
