Softball Recap: Pottsgrove Comes Up Short

Pottsgrove extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against Pope John Paul II, falling 11-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Pope John Paul II, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average this season.

For Pope John Paul II's part, they got a great performance from Lexi DiBricida as she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Benincasa, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Mariesa Osorio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pottsgrove will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oley Valley at 4:15 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Pope John Paul II, they will venture away from home to challenge Faith Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
