Volleyball Recap: Menendez Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Menendez can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost six in a row.

Tommy Abbonizio paced Menendez's offense, picking up 15 kills. Abbonizio got some help from Alex Fischer and his 32 assists. Abbonizio was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Menendez's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for St. Augustine, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

Menendez didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Gulf Breeze on the 6th. As for St. Augustine, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Beachside on the 6th.
