Softball Recap: Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles vs. Danville Warriors
Guerin Catholic extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They came up short against the Danville Warriors, falling 6-0. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Ava Augustinovicz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits.
As for Danville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
On Danville's side, not much got past Autumn Muncy, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Guerin Catholic off the board.
On the hitting side, Danville let Lily Sharrett and Allie Gunter run wild. Sharrett went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Gunter went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Those three RBI gave Sharrett a new career-high.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Guerin Catholic will host Pike at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Danville, they will be playing at home against Tri-West Hendricks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
