Baseball Recap: Stoughton Black Knights vs. Canton Bulldogs
Stoughton extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They came up short against the Canton Bulldogs, falling 13-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 back in April.
As for Canton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
For Canton's part, Kyle Redquest tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Redquest a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Canton got a massive performance out of Andrew Gillis, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Gillis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JT Norton, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Stoughton will take on rival Oliver Ames at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Canton is set to challenge their familiar foe Mansfield at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
