Volleyball Recap: Centerville Takes a Loss

If Centerville was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Roger Bacon on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Elks came up short against the Beavercreek Beavers on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Elks have struggled against the Beavers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

When it comes to explaining why Centerville lost, don't look at Michael Philip. Despite the final result, he had 23 assists and eight digs. Philip has been hot, having posted 16 or more assists the last five times he's played.

Beavercreek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Harrison Barnett led the charge by getting 16 assists and three digs.

Centerville's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-10. As for Beavercreek, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Centerville will square off against Elder at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beavercreek, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Hilliard Darby on the 18th.
