Baseball Game Preview: Don Lugo Conquistadores vs. Ontario Jaguars

For the second straight game, Don Lugo will face off against Ontario. Don Lugo will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Ontario at 3:30 p.m. Don Lugo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Don Lugo's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Ontario. The Conquistadores have beaten the Jaguars the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Jaguars has come to flipping the script.

Trevor Young tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Don Lugo is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Jaden Burillo was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Don Lugo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Bryan Scott, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Don Lugo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Ontario's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Don Lugo, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
