Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jayden Villarreal and Clayton Bezner Lead Sacred Heart to Victory

There's no place like home for Sacred Heart, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Bethesda Christian Lions with a sharp 43-23 win on Tuesday. That 20 point margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Sacred Heart was led to victory by Clayton Bezner and Jayden Villarreal. Bezner went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Villarreal almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and 11 assists. Villarreal is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games he's played. Jake Hess was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Sacred Heart smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Sacred Heart's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Bethesda Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.
