Football Preview: Meeker Bulldogs vs. Stroud Tigers

The Meeker Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Stroud Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meeker has given up an average of 34 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Meeker and Luther had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bulldogs lost 34-14 to the Lions on Friday. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Lions since Friday.

Although Meeker took the loss, they still got scores from Ashton Tunget and Gunnar Enochs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stroud). They never let Kellyville get on the board and left with a 54-0 victory on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Ponies are ranked 218th).

Meeker better keep an eye on Jacob Beck. He was instrumental in Stroud's win, rushing for 169 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries, while also picking up 50 receiving yards and one TD. Beck's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jeremiah Cropp was another key player, throwing for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight passes.

Stroud was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 461 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stroud's defense and their five sacks. Kaleb Aylor was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

The win was the third in a row for Stroud, bringing their record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Meeker, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Meeker was taken down by Stroud 65-32 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bulldogs were down 53-16.
