Softball Recap: Willits Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Willits couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Healdsburg Greyhounds on Wednesday. The Wolverines were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the seven contests prior), but the Greyhounds' pitcher proved too tough.

Willits saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Sherf, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Sherf has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Willits' loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Healdsburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-12.

Willits does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Healdsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Justin-Siena at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.61 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
