Softball Game Preview: Crab Orchard Trojans vs. Frankfort Redbirds

The Crab Orchard Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Frankfort Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Crab Orchard will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Crab Orchard proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Marissa 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since May 2, 2024.

Jada Burnett-Hatton spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Holmes was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Frankfort put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Pope County 12-2.

Frankfort's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Crab Orchard, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Crab Orchard beat Frankfort 11-6 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crab Orchard since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
