Basketball Game Preview: Riverside Ram vs. Stone Bridge Bulldogs

Riverside and Stone Bridge are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Riverside Ram will head out on the road to square off against the Stone Bridge Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Stone Bridge likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Riverside didn't have too much trouble with Independence as they won 80-66. Given the Ram's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Independence are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joell Basue, who went 11 for 16 en route to 22 points and six rebounds. Those 22 points gave Basue a new career-high. Max Lawson was another key player, going 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Stone Bridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 51-47 to Potomac Falls. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Riverside pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.2 points per game. As for Stone Bridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Riverside strolled past Stone Bridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 72-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
