Basketball Game Preview: North Greene Spartans vs. Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes

The North Greene Spartans will challenge the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Greene will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

While North Greene didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Carrollton by a score of 44-33 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Griggsville-Perry hadn't done well against Illini West recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Griggsville-Perry walked away with a 55-43 win over Illini West. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Tornadoes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Chargers are ranked 182nd).

North Greene is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Griggsville-Perry, they moved to 6-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

North Greene came up short against Griggsville-Perry when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 50-41. Can North Greene avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
