Belgrade is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Billings Senior is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will welcome the Broncs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Belgrade barely beat Great Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 11-1 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Krissy Carrillo was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Teagan Bowler was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Billings Senior was able to grind out a solid win over Gallatin on Saturday, taking the game 12-7.
Viennah Meyer and Madi Ban did most of the damage at the plate: Meyer went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Ban went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ivy Runsabove, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Billings Senior was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Belgrade is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That lines up perfectly with their 7-1-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Billings Senior, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Belgrade hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Billings Senior struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Belgrade was able to grind out a solid victory over Billings Senior in their previous matchup back in March, winning 9-5. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
