Basketball Game Preview: Algona Bulldogs vs. Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS

Algona is 8-2 against Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Algona Bulldogs will welcome Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS at 7:45 p.m. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

Algona is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Bishop Garrigan back in December of 2024 (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Algona came up short against Bishop Garrigan, falling 59-38. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS had lost two consecutive heartbreakers to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS fell just short of Garner-Hayfield/Ventura by a score of 45-42.

Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Algona, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Algona didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 54-48 win. Will Algona repeat their success, or does Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
