Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Skates Past Northridge with Ease

While Mt. Vernon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 54-25 win over the Northridge Vikings. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 26-5.

Despite the loss, Northridge still got an impressive performance from Ava Travis, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 48% of Northridge's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

The victory made it two in a row for Mt. Vernon and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Northridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Mt. Vernon will be playing in front of their home fans against Watkins Memorial at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Northridge, they are taking a road trip to take on Newark Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Newark Catholic will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Northridge surely won't give up without a fight.
