Softball Recap: Barker Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Barker had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Akron Tigers on Friday as Barker made off with a 17-6 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Mady Flint made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Flint was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Stoll, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-6. Another player making a difference was Fallyn Mescall, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Barker will challenge rival Newfane at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Akron is set to face off against their familiar foe Wilson at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
