Baseball Recap: River City Gets the Win

The home team had won the previous three meetings between River City and Pioneer, and River City kept the tradition alive. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Patriots on Tuesday. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Noah Couture was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for River City: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 8-13-1 otherwise. Couture was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI and two stolen bases.

River City pushed their record up to 11-14-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pioneer, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-10 record.

River City has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against Christian Brothers on the 29th. Hopefully Pioneer paid attention to the Raiders' contest: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
