Softball Recap: Menchville Comes Up Short

Menchville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gloucester Dukes. The Monarchs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dukes from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Taylor Twitchell (2027) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Menchville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brielle Creque (2027), who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Love Moise-Creque (2028) also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Menchville's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Gloucester, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 11-0.

While Menchville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
