Basketball Game Preview: Greeley Central Wildcats vs. Thompson Valley Eagles

The Greeley Central Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Thompson Valley Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Greeley Central was beaten by Timnath 66-34. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Cubs are ranked 98th).

Meanwhile, Thompson Valley entered their tilt with Northridge on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Grizzlies 70-18.

Greeley Central better keep an eye on Rj Hale. He was instrumental in Thompson Valley's win, going 10 of 16 en route to 23 points and six steals. The game was Hale's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tom Mandeville, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points.

Thompson Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Greeley Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Greeley Central came up short against Thompson Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 64-55. Can Greeley Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
