Montour skates past Thomas Jefferson with ease

Recap: Montour Spartans vs. Thomas Jefferson Jaguars

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Montour Spartans had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Thomas Jefferson at home to the tune of 51-21. The win was familiar territory for Montour who now have seven in a row.

Leading Montour to victory were Jake Wolfe and Andrew Alston. Wolfe threw for 220 yards and five touchdowns, while Alston picked up 234 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Alston's longest reception was for an incredible 93 yards.

Despite the loss, Thomas Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Elias Lippincott, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Montour pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.5 points per game. As for Thomas Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Montour will square off against McKeesport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McKeesport will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Thomas Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
