Softball Game Preview: Baker Gators vs. Jay Royals

Baker is 0-10 against Jay since March of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Gators will challenge the Royals at 5:00 p.m. Baker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Baker is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with an 11-7 victory over Central. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kenzie Ward was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justyce Johns, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jay faced Pace in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Monday. The Royals fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Royals' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Jay's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-2. As for Baker, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Baker might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Jay when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
