If Lee Williams wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Coconino, they should've done a better job of containing Jake Hanley. The Panthers took down the Volunteers 28-12 on Friday with plenty of help from Hanley, who rushed for 55 yards and one TD, and also threw for 135 yards and one touchdown. His passing game has become a key predictor of Coconino's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Coconino's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Lee Williams' QB won't forget Daniel Villas anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Coconino has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.5 points on average over those games. As for Lee Williams, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Coconino will face off against Bradshaw Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' defense has only allowed 14.4 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lee Williams, they will challenge Mohave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Volunteers will need to watch out since the Thunderbirds have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
