Baseball Recap: North Central Comes Up Short

North Central had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it six. They fell just short of the American Leadership Academy - by a score of 10-9. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the - from their previous meeting back in February of 2025.

Bryson Eubanks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Cole Oliver, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for American Leadership Academy, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-4. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

On American Leadership Academy's side, Hudson Sturkie made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sturkie has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Eli Tucker was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of American Leadership Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Central will square off against Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for American Leadership Academy, they will face off against Strom Thurmond at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
