Basketball Game Preview: Quanah Indians vs. Wheeler Mustangs

The Quanah Indians will head out to take on the Wheeler Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Quanah nor Wheeler posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Quanah will head out to face Wheeler after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. Quanah was outmatched by Panhandle and fell 71-20. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

Meanwhile, Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Panhandle, falling 77-10. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 961st, while the Panthers are ranked 53rd).

Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Quanah, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-6.

Quanah beat Wheeler 54-42 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Quanah since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
