Basketball Recap: Jamarion Mitchell and Robinson Mendez Secure Win for Aynor

Aynor's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 41-33 victory over the Latta Vikings. This was a revenge game for the Blue Jackets: when they faced off against the Vikings last Wednesday, they had to take a 54-52 defeat.

Aynor was led to victory by Robinson Mendez and Jamarion Mitchell. Mendez dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards, while Mitchell posted nine points and five steals. With that strong performance, Mendez is now averaging an impressive 8.6 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Tanyika, who earned seven points and eight rebounds.

Latta lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Xy'Mari Bethea, who put up 13 points and four steals. Bethea is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Shayon Mcgruder, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Aynor now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Latta, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Aynor didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-41 defeat against Hannah-Pamplico on the 10th. As for Latta, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-42 loss against Cheraw on the 10th.
