Softball Game Preview: Denbigh Patriots vs. Menchville Monarchs

For the second straight game, Denbigh will face off against Menchville. The Patriots will host the Monarchs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Denbigh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Denbigh lost 9-1 to Menchville on Tuesday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Menchville's part, Taylor Twitchell (2027) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Twitchell (2027).

On the hitting side, Rashani Sackey (2026) was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaylah Franco (2026), who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Menchville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denbigh only posted an OBP of .179.

The victory (which was Menchville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Denbigh, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
