Baseball Recap: Seffner Christian Takes a Loss

Seffner Christian was the 9-2 winner over Cambridge Christian when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Seffner Christian Crusaders took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cambridge Christian Lancers on Tuesday. The Crusaders' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Seffner Christian got a good showing from Tyler Tate, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tate has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Seffner Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalab Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Williams hit this season.

Seffner Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Cambridge Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seffner Christian will head out to square off against Bell Creek Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bell Creek Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Seffner Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cambridge Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
