Softball Recap: Owen Valley Gets the Win

While Owen Valley's win against North Putnam wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Cougars 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since April 16, 2024.

Haley Amador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Kalyn Greene was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abree Wells, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Owen Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for North Putnam, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owen Valley will host Cascade at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Putnam, they will challenge Cloverdale at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Clovers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
