Basketball Game Preview: Ware County Gators vs. Wayne County Yellow Jackets

Ware County and Wayne County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Ware County Gators will square off against the Wayne County Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ware County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Wayne County likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Ware County didn't have too much trouble with Perry as they won 57-41. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Panthers are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayne County). They blew past New Hampstead, posting a 65-17 win. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Yellow Jackets with their most commanding win of the season.

Wayne County pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points per game. As for Ware County, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.

Ware County was able to grind out a solid victory over Wayne County when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 43-36. Does Ware County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wayne County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
