Soccer Game Preview: Fort Meade vs. Lakeland

The Fort Meade Miners will venture away from home to challenge the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Meade is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.8 goals per game this season.

Fort Meade's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Santa Fe Catholic as Fort Meade made off with a 6-0 win. Dylan Flores was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to McKeel Academy. While losing is never fun, the Dreadnaughts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Wildcats are ranked 42nd).

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 2-10-2. As for Fort Meade, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4-1.

Fort Meade took their win against Lakeland in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0. Does Fort Meade have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakeland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
