Basketball Recap: Manawa Comes Up Short

After flying high against Marion on Monday, Manawa came back down to earth. The Wolves fell 62-49 to the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Chargers are ranked 68th).

Manawa's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Coming up, Manawa will welcome Northeast Wisconsin Christian HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Manawa will need to watch out since Northeast Wisconsin Christian HomeSchool has now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, they will head out to challenge Lakeland at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers will be up against the Thunderbirds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
