Baseball Recap: Evergreen Drops Highest Score of Season Against Foster

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evergreen). They blew past the Foster Bulldogs 20-2 on Monday. Considering the Wolverines have won four games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jose Cardenas made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Cardenas was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Riley Coughlin was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Tycean Martin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-5.

Evergreen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Evergreen's record now sits at 7-2. As for Foster, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evergreen will host Tyee at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Foster, they will be playing at home against Cedarcrest at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Wolves will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
