There's no place like home for Hazard, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Buckhorn Wildcats 11-1 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Baylynn Roll spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Hazard let Maggie Combs and Peyton Fields run wild. Combs scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2, while Fields scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Combs has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Griffith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hazard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
Hazard now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Buckhorn, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Hazard will square off against Breathitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buckhorn, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Buckhorn Wildcats face off against Cordia Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
