Softball Recap: Colusa Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Colusa waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Willows Honkers as they made off with a 15-4 win. This was payback for the RedHawks, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ava Garcia and Braelyn Santana were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Garcia pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Santana tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Garcia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Garcia went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Santana went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Santana a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison Lay was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Caeden Agnew, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Colusa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .400 that Willows posted.

Colusa's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Willows, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Colusa will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Honkers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
